Toddler Water Globe

In trying to stay as close to my goal in providing Paris a homemade Christmas, I came up with this cutesy idea!  It turned out pretty good and I just KNOW she is going to love it.
Paris is very observant...she always has been since day 1.  She loves looking around and identifying all numbers, letters, people, food, objects, toys, everything!  She is always pointing and rambling nonsensical jibberish.  But I know she is really identifying things in her own language.  I love the look she gives me after she sees something she knows.  She looks over her shoulder, smiles, says "Ma?", points and using her own language tells me what it is.  Then she smiles and moves on to playing.  I love that if anything moves outside, even if she is playing, she recognizes it and looks up.  She is just super aware of her surroundings and I want to continue building on her supernatural (kidding) ability.

I know she will love shaking this water globe, watching everything settle to the bottom and gradually as she is able to speak, tell me what she sees.
So, I didn't want to use any glass.  I didn't ever want to be worried about her taking it outside and dropping it on the sidewalk.  I just used a clear heavy plastic bottle with screw on lid.  Before I go on, I have to say that the last step is to hot glue gun the lid on.  No spills and no choking on tiny objects.

Materials:
Heavy plastic bottle with screw on lid
Hot glue gun
2 strips of ribbon (because I needed to fancy it up) (i glued that on too)
Water (I did not fill to the top because then you couldn't see the floating objects on top)
1 tablespoon rubbing alcohol (to purify water)
Little items of interest to Paris: such as confetti, toothpick, cut up neon straw, pom poms, plastic letters that spell her name, a big number, candle, a plastic fish, a plastic mustache, buttons, coins, push pins, pearl beads, plastic glitter beads, paper clips, pebbles, & ribbon flowers

How to:
I filled up the bottle with water, added the items, drained out some water, added the alcohol, glued the cap on, tied the ribbon and glued it in a knot.
Ta-Da!  Done and Done!

Baby Clothes Quilt

I'm done!!!  It took a little over a month to make but it's finished and I am so pleased with how it looks and Paris loves it. She can't stay off it!  (not that I would want her to...)  I already love telling her stories of what we did in those outfits and when she wore them. The back is made from her flannel receiving blankets as well. So fun, memorable, warm and soft!

Wednesday was Great!

I woke up early yesterday due to going to bed early due to Mr. Wright contracting the flu from his business partner. B-u-m-m-e-r. But...good for my wish list of things to do!
I finally finished decorating the tops of our kitchen cabinets. After 1 year and 1 month in our house it is fini. I didn't buy anything special, just used what I had and I like it!

I then decided make the most noise possible by gutting my pantry and starting over. I literally took everything out (yes my kitchen was a wreck for half the day), wiped it down and pretended we were moving in again. Not a huge visual difference but now I can actually reach everything I use regularly and I got rid if weird things that just happen to find themselves in the pantry. Like a ceramic pumpkin...or a netty pot?  Oh my, this is embarrassing!  When Dusty saw it he sarcastically exclaimed, "yay it looks the same!!!"  No. Not at all. Not one tiny bit.  The toaster finally has a permanent spot.

And my final project of the day was working on Paris's baby clothes quilt. I am 100% in love with how it is coming along & she already loves cuddling with it. I probably will finish it within the next few days.
Here's a sneak peak of the back and binding, made from her receiving blankets.
It was a good day!

Homemade Quiet Book

A few months ago I made Paris a Quiet Book. I wanted it to just focus on a few basic toddler skills such as matching, attaching various materials, and counting. She has fun when she plays with it but I've realized I should have attached all the pieces with yarn so nothing would drop out or get lost. One button down already!  I had fun making it- mainly planning it.
Still need to hand stitch her name.
Bead counting
Apples go from basket to tree - attach with magnets.  Owl's eyes velcro on/off.
Velcro bubblegum (her favorite page) and tying the ballet slipper.
Money for candy
Button on/off flower tops and mirror with little hair clips for her to do herself.
Dress Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head.
She can slip her little hands in these mittens.

The Wright Halloween 2013!

What a fun holiday.  Having children makes it 100x more fun!
Here are some of our photos from last night!

Em turned 3-0!!!

Well it was a great 30th birthday for Emily!  I had so much fun planning it and I know she felt loved and celebrated!  I had plans for breakfast then a hike, carving pumpkins, her favorite meal, sushi and spring rolls and then cake and presents. Butttt, plans changed for the better when I asked her what she wanted to do!  So we went out to breakfast at Harry's, went to the mall to hunt for a nice pair of jeans, came back to our house and watched Duck Dynasty (our newest obsession), looked through old family photos, ate her real favorite meal, pot roast, carrots, mashed potatoes with noodles on top, watched a slideshow of her photos as a kid, ate an awesome tie-dye 80s cake and opened mountains of gifts and cards!  She had a day that she wanted and we couldn't have been happier!

3+Belly=Soon to be 4!

This family was so fun to photograph!  Believe it or not, she is 37 weeks along in these photos!  Talk about glowing!  They have a little boy who reminds me so much of Baby Todd so it was fun to be around him.  Their second little man will be here in a matter of weeks, if not sooner!  It is so fun capturing photographs that families will love and have for years to come!
